We are designed to minimise data collection and retention wherever possible.

- Smart meter electricity usage data (half-hourly consumption)
- Postcode (used to determine regional tariff pricing and solar irradiance)
- Email address (if you request results or updates)
b) Data collected automatically
- IP address
- Browser and device information
- Basic usage analytics (e.g. page views)
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Run simulations of your electricity costs under different scenarios
- Adjust results based on your region (tariffs and solar generation)
- Present results to you
- Improve the service and models
- Monitor performance and prevent misuse
We use your postcode only to determine regional pricing and solar conditions. We do not use it to track your precise location.
3. Lawful basis
Under UK GDPR, we rely on:
- Consent — when you connect smart meter data via third parties
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the service, including running simulations based on your inputs
4. Data retention
We minimise how long we keep your data:
- Raw usage data (e.g. uploaded or retrieved consumption data): deleted automatically within 24 hours
- Simulation results (which may include postcode): retained for a limited period so you can view your results
- Analytics data: retained in aggregated form
We do not store long-term raw consumption histories.
5. Data sharing
We only share data where necessary to operate the service:
- Cloud hosting providers (e.g. Microsoft Azure)
- Smart meter data providers, where you explicitly authorise access
- Analytics providers (privacy-focused tools)
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
6. International transfers
Your data is processed in UK or EU data centres. Where data is processed outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are used.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Object to certain processing
